Natural Wax Series
We produce the low-polarity carnauba wax (TS-1), the high-polarity carnauba wax (HP) and their derivatives.
TS-1 is the low-polarity component fractionated from carnauba wax and can solidify oil strongly. SFC and CS-20 are blends of TS-1 and the other wax: sunflower wax and synthetic wax, respectively. They can solidify more strongly than TS-1 and make a smoother feel.
HP is the high-polarity component fractionated from carnauba wax, an up-cycle product from TS-1 production. It can improve pigment dispersion and water resistance. IPG-GEL is extracted with IPG and can be added to the water phase of an O/W emulsion to form a natural silky film.
CARNAUBA WAX TS-1
CARNAUBA WAX TS-1 is composed of the low-polarity component of carnauba wax. TS-1 can solidify high-polarity oil and middle-polarity oil, which are generally used in a lipstick, better than low-refined carnauba wax. Although the used oil is the same, there are cases where TS-1 can form a stick, but low-refined carnauba wax cannot form a stick. TS-1 can enable the creation of new cosmetics never before possible.

NATURAL SYNERGY WAX SFC
NATURAL SYNERGY WAX SFC is a 100% natural blend of the low-polarity carnauba wax (TS-1) and a refined sunflower wax. The combination of these two botanical waxes has an amazing synergistic effect and can solidify oils much more strongly than TS-1, especially the middle-polarity to high-polarity oils primarily used in oil-in-wax solid cosmetics such as lipstick. Moreover, SFC gives a smoother feel (please refer to the interesting data in the brochure.), so SFC enables you to create naturally derived cosmetics with both an elegant feel and a sufficient strength.

Thermal stability is also an important factor of wax. In particular, a lipstick solidified with only natural wax, without synthetic wax, tends to be thermally unstable and cause the exudation of oil (sweating).
We made Velvety Texture Lipstick (Formulation No. NNLIP007) with 10% NATURAL SYNERGY WAX SFC. All its ingredients, including oil and pigment, were of natural origin. We then left the lipstick at 50 degrees C for 24 hours. Its appearance did not change without exudation.
CARNAUBA WAX HP
CARNAUBA WAX HP is composed of the high-polarity component of carnauba wax. HP cannot be used to solidify oil-based cosmetics like general carnauba wax, but it can be used for emulsification. For example, HP stabilizes an O/W liquid foundation and prevents the film from coming off with water. In addition, HP helps to disperse pigments and make the film thickness uniform (See the brochure for details.). Therefore, HP is also expected to improve PA and SPF in a sunscreen formulation.

CARNAUBA WAX IPG-GEL
CARNAUBA WAX IPG-GEL consists of the high-polarity component of carnauba wax and isopentyldiol (isoprene glycol, IPG) and is a film former for an O/W emulsion, which is produced from the high-polarity component as an up-cycle product from the production of low-polarity carnauba wax (TS-1). Because the high-polarity wax is covered with IPG, this wax gel can be added to the water phase of an O/W emulsion, such as a liquid foundation. It forms a natural silky film without a sticky or tight feel. In addition, it can adhere uniformly to the skin without unevenness and also improve water resistance.

First, we produce the de-resin candelilla wax (DRZ), which can solidify oil more strongly than unrefined candelilla wax. DRZ consists of hydrocarbons and esters, and then we fractionate them as HC31 and ESF, respectively. These fractions are also used as part of HYBRID WAX (HCS-20 and ES-20), and we produce and supply the more useful wax.
CANDELILLA WAX DRZ
CANDELILLA WAX DRZ is a deresinated candelilla wax optimised for solidifying oil-based cosmetics. Because the high-polarity components in candelilla wax such as resin are extremely removed, DRZ can effectively solidify the high-polarity oil and medium-polarity oil commonly used in a lipstick.
PAHs are also reduced and its total of four kinds of PAHs* is <10.0 ppb, and that complies with the food regulation in the EU ((EC) No 835/2011). In addition, Benzyl Alcohol, one of the fragrance allergens, is removed.

CANDELILLA WAX ESF
CANDELILLA WAX ESF is the ester fraction of candelilla wax. When added to solid oil-based cosmetics such as lipstick together with linear hydrocarbon wax, it creates a finer wax crystal structure. Consequently, the cosmetic product has a smooth texture as well as sufficient strength. As this function is similar to that of microcrystalline wax, ESF is a natural substitute for it.

CANDELILLA WAX HYDROCARBONS HC31
CANDELILLA WAX HYDROCARBONS HC31 is the hydrocarbon fraction of candelilla wax. The main component is a linear hydrocarbon with 31 carbons. As this molecule is not so long, HC31 is ideal for creating rich textures and fine particle films rather than hardening oil. Especially, the combination of 90% HC31, 5% CARNAUBA WAX HP and 5% Behenyl Alcohol creates very fine particles that adhere well to the skin, in low-polarity oils, such as squalane, isododecane and modified silicone. This combination is useful as a film former for a liquid foundation.

We dispersed three types of wax into isododecane at a ratio of 10% wax to 90% isododecane. Then, we applied the mixture to a black tile with a brush.
(A) Synthetic hydrocarbon wax: It is not uniformly dispersed and does not adhere to the tile.
(B) CANDELILLA WAX HYDROCARBONS HC31: It forms fine crystals and adheres to the tile.
(C) The combination of 90% HC31, 5% CARNAUBA WAX HP and 5% Behenyl Alcohol: It forms very fine particles and adheres to and covers the tile.
COLOR GREASE
COLOR GREASE is a color paste, a premix of oil and pigment, containing candelilla resin. The candelilla resin consists of triterpenes, and it can be dispersed in low-polarity oil and also has an affinity with the pigment due to its hydrophilic group.
The pigment is considered to be better dispersed in COLOR GREASE than in a general color paste, contributing to the brilliant color. In addition, when the formulation is colored with COLOR GREASE, the pigment is not easily leached into the water, known as bleeding.
Basic Information
Product Name: COLOR GREASE
INCI Name: Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax Extract (and) Squalane (and) (Pigment)
Net Weight: 5 kg
Color Variation: 10 colors
These are our theory images of pigment in COLOR GREASE and a general color paste. In the general color paste, some pigments often agglomerate. In COLOR GREASE, on the other hand, the resin is dispersed in squalene, and the pigment adheres to the resin, so the pigment is considered to be also evenly dispersed. When the formulation with COLOR GREASE is applied to the lips, the high-polarity complex of resin and pigment adheres to the surface of the lips. The pigment is prevented from bleeding into the water because the low-polarity layer such as squalane covers the complex.
Lipstick A was colored with a general color paste composed of polyglyceryl-2 triisostearate and pigment, and Lipstick B was colored with COLOR GREASE. Lipstick B has a more brilliant color than Lipstick A (left), and when they are applied to paper, Lipstick A shows uneven color and lumps of pigment, but Lipstick B shows a brilliant and even color (right).
We dropped water on each liquid rouge (upper). Liquid Rouge B, which was colored with COLOR GREASE, shows no bleeding, unlike Liquid Rouge A and C. It can help to prevent the formulation from bleeding into water and saliva.
We left each color paste in a glass bottle (lower). COLOR GREASE (B) shows no pigment precipitation, unlike Color Paste A and C. It does not need to be stirred before use on a production site.
We can produce a customized COLOR GREASE with pigments not listed here (net weight: 5 kg). Please do not hesitate to contact us.
